TOPIC: KEYS TO ANSWERED PRAYER.
SCRIPTURE: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. JAMES 5:16.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Prayer is a form of labour, and in all labour, there is profit.
Our anchor scripture reveals the potency of prayer in producing results. Those who pray never lack results in life.
But it is also crucial to note that not everyone who prays experiences answers. Amazingly, it is not everyone who prays that expects answers to their prayers. This is because to some people, prayer is a mere activity or a fulfilment of religious obligation. In fact, there are those who become surprised when their prayers are answered.
The truth is, those who understand the principles of prayer receive answers to their prayers. Those whose prayers are answered are proof producers; they never lack results in life.
Now, the question is, if we are to experience answers to our prayers, what should we do? What are the keys to answers in prayers?
We shall be looking at a few of them today.
1. The remembrance of previous Divine intervention. At times, you may not have prayed, but God intervened. Remembering what God has done before, either in our lives or in the lives of others, gives us the strength to expect more from God (Psalm 103:1-5). Verse 2 of this scripture says, …and forget not all his benefits. The remembrance of previous divine intervention is a key to answered prayer.
2. Faith in the reality, trustworthiness and faithfulness of God to His Word (Hebrews 11:6). Possessing faith that God is real, trustworthy, and faithful to His word is key to answered prayer. If you don’t believe that God is real, trustworthy, reliable, and dependable, then your prayer is an exercise in futility.
3. Knowing that there is no wasted pursuit or labour in God (Proverbs 14:23). Colossians 4:12 says, Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers…So, prayer is a form of labour, and in all labour, there is profit (Hebrews 11:6).
Beloved, anytime you are praying and the devil starts telling you that you are wasting your time, and you agree, that is a confirmation of failure in prayer. But if you don’t agree and keep praying, your answer will come.
You know, the devil is a master liar. He has Ph.D. in liology. He has passed several courses in falsehood like Deception-601, Crookedness-702, etc. So, you don’t expect a liar to tell the truth.
4. The maintenance of the right utterance. The same things you are saying to God at the place of prayer should be the same things you are saying in everyday life (Proverbs 18:21, Numbers 14:28). Declare the Word of God, not what you feel or see around you. A negative word is an attack on your faith. And without faith in God, your answer to prayer is not guaranteed.
Remember this: Prayer is a form of labour, and in all labour, there is profit.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Take out time to appreciate God for His previous interventions in your life.
2. When you pray, believe you will receive answers.
3. Speak into your life daily. Avoid confessing what you don’t desire no matter the situation you find yourself in.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your help in my life. My life is in your hands Lord. Perfect all that concerns me, my family and destiny, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
